Inspiration
This series is based off of the one that I had while I lived and worked at Crannog Ales. The idea for this beer was based off of what I had learnt from the Trinity Brewing IPAs, and brought together into a new recipe that became more of a Red Rye Pale Ale. I wanted to see what lower alcohol levels would create with this approach so that I could create a more sessionable beer for the summer. I'm also really interested to see what Mandarina Bavaria and Huell Melon hops together will be like. Due to my inability to control fermentation temperatures, I'm going to have to brew with the seasons, and so this is unfortunately the last IPA/Pale Ale I'll be making again until it gets cooler, likely in the late Summer/early Fall.

Post-Brewday Notes
Ended up with 15L, added 2.5L during boil OG: 1.047
Supposed to:
Ferment at 68°F (19°C). When fermentation is 75% complete, add first round of dry hops. When fermentation is complete, reduce temperature to 63°F (17°C) and add second round of dry hops. After 3 days, cold crash.
Had to:
Brewed on 2020/06/06: 23-24C Brought downstairs 2020/06/07: 20-21C Dry Hop I 2020/06/10 Dry Hop II 2020/06/13 Cold Crash 2020/06/16 Keg 2020/06/18.
I was unhappy with how the Huell Melon and Mandarina Bavaria had been, and so decided to add some Citra hops to the final dry hop to try and get more fruit/citrus flavor.
Tasted 2020/07/10, just over a month after brewday. The nose is still quite strong and has notes of citrus, melon, malt breadiness, sweetness, and is the slightest bit stale I would say. The flavour is nice and juicy, Quite light, so I would like to increase the body on this beer in the future. The addition of Citra hops to this both saved and damaged the beer. The flavour I'm getting is somewhat from the Citra, but there is an unfortunate green bitterness that hasn't gone away in the beer. This is due to over-hopping the beer. I like the lower alcohol on the beer though and think that if it had fermented cooler, been hopped wih stronger hops and had a bigger body (mashed higher) then I think this beer would have been a lot nicer.
